The only remark that can be raised at SCS is that ferry time is counted twice in the job's total time. Maybe they wanted to make hired drivers less likely to get on ferries, but this way they made game to avoid most ferries, as the job's total time (that matters for Best route) grows up more than needed.

The drivers you hire in-game are real people, name, portrait, etc. The source SCS uses is for this is their own community, starting with their own employees, then expanding out into the community here. You may find Drivers which are notable/influential members of this
The driver i made on my profile seems to be stuck at 5.0. hes level 29 now as an instructor, but i have around 40 drivers now and around 10 of them are rated over 7.0. Does anyone know why my char is stuck at rating 5 and hes been there since he was prob level 10-15 and does the rating mean more money or is it meaningless. Thanks for any help u can give me

Read carefully. When a Driver completes a Job, he/she gets paid & earns XP (experience points) respectively.
Nope, the hired drivers in both ATS and ETS2 are just scripted. So you never see them on the road, but i know they had it implented in one of the 18 wheels of steels games. Only minus where that the map was much smaller compared to ATS, so i guess it was easier too track companydrivers in that game.

Depending on the driver's skill set (screenshots are handy as The Pitts indicated) those pickup points might be a long distance, costing you extra money.
No, for the drivers upgrading the truck is 99.9% cosmetic. Trailers can have varying effects, most of which will not be positive.
